Basse-Meuse
There is a holiday spirit in the air as you depart Visé marina. You head towards Haccourt, which is known as “macralles country”. In fact, in the 16th century, witches from the region were condemned and burned alive on the Hauts de Froidmont, between Haccourt and Houtain. The tradition is still very much alive in Liège's Basse-Meuse. The supernatural and evil power remain present in this mythical location. The bike ride continues in an urban environment, before reaching a more rural setting with fields, orchards, and vineyards (Vin du Pays de Liège). Oupeye has an arboreal heritage and boasts the distinction of being the Walloon fruit-growing capital. You also pass the imposing square farm of Tilice, located in the hamlet of the same name.
In Hauts de Froidment, you will discover a barbecue area and an orchard that is home to 80 species of tall trees. Located in a natural setting, the site is also home to an abandoned quarry with majestic chalk cliffs, as well as diversified woodlands.
Eat and drink: Visé, Heure-le-Romain (bistro and ice-cream shop).
