Between peatland and forests
You’ll start the ride from the Maison du Parc-Botrange, where tourist information and an exhibition visit await you. After perhaps stopping for lunch, you’ll head to the rooftops of Belgium, culminating at 694m of altitude. You’ll admire a very beautiful panorama over the Walloon fens, its moors and peatland covering 600 ha, an exceptional biotope to be preserved!
You’ll return towards the Botrange Nature Centre along woody or fenland paths. You’ll pass by the ‘Cross of the Betrothed’, recalling the incredibly dramatic story of the two young lovers who died in the fens in 1871, as well as the Centenary bridge. Built in 1930 to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of Belgium’s independence, this small bridge straddles the Hoëgne river and invites relaxation.
You can hire electric bikes at the start of the ride.
