From the Vennbahn to the Vesdre dam
Departing from Raeren’s old railway station, where you can admire the old carriages that have been converted into a terrace/restaurant, take the legendary Vennbahn towards Germany. After passing briefly through the village of Petergensfed, you enter the forest and travel along the Vesdre towards the dam, before following the banks of the lake and its breathtaking views. Don’t hesitate to stop off at the dam’s tourist site, a place of peace and relaxation where you can quench your thirst on the restaurant’s terrace.
Perched on a mound overlooking the banks, it offers a splendid view of the whole site and the surrounding Hertogenwald forest. Finally, continue along the banks of the lake towards Raeren.
Eat and drink: Bahnhofscafe (Petergensfeld - Raeren) and Wesertalsperre (dam brewery)
