The Tourism Federation of the Province of Liège Joins a European Cycling Initiative

On 2 April 2024, a new Interreg project, "SLOWTOURISME en Grande Région", was officially approved. The project brings together partners from the Meuse Department in France, the Province of Luxembourg in Belgium and the Idelux Intermunicipal Association, the Destination Ardenne EEIG, and the Tourism Federation of the Province of Liège.

The project will enable us to finance additional junction node network signage, while further enhancing the cycling network with rest areas equipped with picnic tables, benches and appropriate wayfinding signage.

It also includes working closely with cafés, breweries and restaurants located near the cycling network, encouraging them to obtain the Bienvenue Vélo label and adopt environmentally friendly practices.

As part of this initiative, an educational study tour (Eductour) was organised from 24 to 26 September 2024, during which the Vélotourisme team of the Tourism Federation of the Province of Liège welcomed a delegation from the Meuse Department (France) to introduce them to the development of a signposted junction node network.

Although the weather brought three days of rain, the visit proved highly productive and was carried out in an excellent spirit throughout.
