The Vélo Tour network, which was created 20 years ago, has continued to be updated in the east of the province, with 107 km of points-nœuds routes through the municipalities of Eupen, Baelen, Limbourg and Jalhay.
A number of changes have been made: the upper town of Eupen is now connected to the lower town via points-nœuds 88-39-40. The 34-32-31 link no longer exists, nor does the 34-45 link. These have been replaced by a new section 33-45, passing through Kettenis and using mainly cycle paths.
From the town centre, you can now reach the Vesdre dam via the Katharinenbusch and Osthertogenwald woodland paths. Section 41-56, which used to run along the main road, has been replaced by section 41-2-56 for greater safety; the old link between Eupen and Membach has been replaced by section 39-82 on country roads, for the same safety reasons.
New sections have also been created around the villages of Membach and Baelen. The latter is again connected to Limburg via the 98-99-53 link. Point-nœud 23 has been moved pending a future connection with Welkenraedt. Finally, Limbourg has been reconnected to Jalhay, this time via the Bois d’Hévremont, the Route de la Louveterie having been deemed too dangerous.
All these changes have been incorporated into our points-nœuds planner. To find out more about these changes, here are three lovely walks of ‘medium’ difficulty:
