Following the major fire in the High Fens, in the heart of the East Cantons, several areas within the municipalities of Baelen, Malmedy, Waimes and Jalhay are subject to access restrictions. For safety reasons, the public is still not permitted to enter the area affected by the fire.
The trails listed below are closed for an indefinite period, as some paths have been directly affected by the fire:
We encourage you to check our junction node planner regularly to find out which areas of the “points-nœuds” network are inaccessible and, consequently, which trails are not available.
To keep up to date with the latest information on the situation and the measures taken by the authorities, please check regularly the Wallonia information page dedicated to the fire – in particular the map, which is updated very frequently – as well as the website of the Governor of the Province of Liège and the Governor’s Facebook page.
As the situation is developing rapidly, the information is likely to be updated regularly.
